Melting roads and sweating bodies

Oh vey…… This happened near my house……

As I sit here under the air conditioner in the 42 degree Celsius heat (107 Fahrenheit), melting, sweating in places I didn’t know I had; as I listen to the crazy hot wind outside, knowing it’s already started some dangerous bushfires, that a friend and her family have already had to evacuate their home, I thank God that we even have air con and I thank God that we have amazing fire fighters, willing to work under horrendous conditions, braver than I could ever be. Thankyou to all of our Firies, fighting and on-call – you are truly amazing.

So….Thank you to all those people who messaged me about my last blog post….it gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that not only do people have my back but I may have even helped others through their own issues. That makes all the angst I went through to reveal my stuff more than worth it. As they say….a burden shared is a burden halved.

I think that’s a saying, isn’t it? I’m sure I’ve heard that somewhere. And if it’s not a saying, then it should be.

Now, some of the things I wanted to tell you the other day before I got caught up in spilling my guts…..

What’s the definition of torture?

Waiting for people who I know have got my book to hurry up and read it and post reviews – you see I have a STACK of friends here in Melbourne who have the book, are reading in stages and are in the midst of school holidays…..ugggghhhhh…. The torture!! I’m not usually so impatient but this is my book.! My BABY! Oyyyyy veyyyyyyy…. Lol. Why are my townsfolk so slow???? Maybe it’s the freaking heat…

There’s friends in other parts of Australia and the World who may not have posted a review just yet because it’s been Christmas then New Year so I understand all that. But a lot of those people have reviewed already so that’s all good. But my Melbournians?? Slow as a snail hitching a ride on a turtle.

I swear, the universe is teaching me patience with this…. 😏🙄😕

So for the sake of my sanity, if you haven’t yet done a review, please take five minutes and pop one on Amazon, Xlibris and Goodreads (if you’re a member). Just think of me – sitting here in the fiery heat of an Aussie summer, melting and sweating and itching with impatience – it’s not a pretty sight! In fact it’s downright scary!!😜

You know what else?

I’m finding it quite a challenge to balance out the time needed to promote Fractured and edit its’ sequel. Talking with some other self published authors, apparently it’s a common problem – you gotta spend all this time tweeting, sharing, researching promotion ideas, implementing them etc etc yadda yadda and all of it is quite draining. I find that it really saps my creative energy and prevents me from writing as much as I’d like to. Maybe that’s the same with other writers, maybe some are more experienced at finding the balance. Or maybe they have someone that does all that for them – I don’t know but I know I didn’t become an author to spend all my time promoting – that’s no fun and I reckon I’m pretty hopeless at it. Sigh…. 😕

So, if you have any promotion ideas, hints, things you can teach me; if you can pimp me out to your friends and colleagues; if you can retweet, share, copy paste, sign up, join up, follow and anything else, then please do so….🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I wanna get back to writing and editing! 😩😩😩😩

Does anyone know how to put a BUY NOW tab on this WordPress site that will bring up the links for Fractured on Amazon and Xlibris?? I can’t figure out how to do that! Grrr

Speaking of writing….do you know I’ve got a vincat fanfic oneshot floating around in my head? I’m fleshing out the story and I’d really like to get to writing it….does anyone still want a peek into their life?

If you know me, you know that my one shots are not exactly short. 🙄🙄🙄 And even if I write a vincat oneshot  while I edit Kellan and Charlotte’s story……. Still a thousand times less stressful and confusing to me than doing promo all the time…… I want THEIR sweaty bodies to be the only sweaty bodies I worry about.

By the way, we should have a name for them shouldn’t we? Post me your ideas…….. I’ll be waiting….and sweating…….and melting….. Lord, it’s hot.
