Bears, Booze and Birthdays

Hey there

How are you all? If it feels like it’s been awhile since we last spoke, well you’re right….it has been. It’s been a very eventful last couple of months. Grab a cuppa and sit while I fill you in…. ☕️☕️☕️
Firstly, I’ve sort of put myself in voluntary hibernation. I know that sounds weird like I’m some sort of moody bear (I so can be)  but it’s been necessary and I’m going back there very soon. And the reason is this….I have been so distracted in my life with the million and ten things that have been going on – health issues, family stuff, my own insecurities, writers block and trying to keep on top of everything – that I found myself struggling to find time to write and edit regularly. And I’d get so mad at myself because of it, even over the things that were out of my control. So, the only way I could get around the situation was to put a limit on how much time I spent on any one thing. I had to section off days and times where I lock myself away from social media, from household chores and leave the phone on silent. All to break through the writers block and get my words flowing again. There’s quite a few memes out there that depict what a writers life is like and each of them are true…..here’s a fave one. Credit to the artist – you nailed it.

Now I don’t know if other writers go through this or if it’s just me but a huge amount of my time is spent reading on the publishing industry, learning about it, reading articles and sourcing the answers to the hundreds of questions I have. It’s endless and there’s only so much I can get done in a day. I’m learning lots I must admit, even it’s a little slow. Who knew there was so much more to publishing than just writing? Not I. Finishing the book is just the beginning of it all.
There’s been a lot of personal stuff happening lately too – lots of family events including my birthday recently. Woot woot! Yes, I aged another year. Got a little spoiled in terms of gifts and being taken out for a nice lunch – that hasn’t been done for me in quite a few years so it felt really good. You can ask me how old I turned but I’m not telling…all I can say is that there’s a 4 and a 5 in it. You can decide in which order they go. 😊😊

🎂🎉🎈🎉🎂

I also had some great news – I “graduated” from the oncology department at the main women’s hospital here in Melbourne. After 7 years of monitoring and lots and lots of regular checkups, scans and tests, the doctors finally gave me the all clear and said “Sayonara, don’t come back”. As you can imagine, it was a huge milestone and I’m so so thankful that period of my life is over with. Naturally, I had some celebrating to do which for me involved a little wine and then some more wine. Maybe a bit more after that. 😜 I don’t drink so after two glasses of Hooray-Vino I  was more than a little tiddly that night. Lol. 🍾🍷🍾🍷🍾 But it was totally worth the icky feeling the next day.
Another thing I got busy doing since we last spoke was creating a logo for my website. And when I say “I” got busy, I mean my gorgeous and super talented friend Issy. Honestly, she’s been so wonderful and generous….the emailing back and forth between Australia and Germany as we tweaked it this way then that way then changed it some more………Lord, she was so patient with me. ❤️❤️❤️ Bless her heart, this logo wouldn’t have happened without her. It was her idea to create a logo out of my own writing! That’s right – my very own writing! I didn’t know such a thing was possible. She did all the work on it and it’s awesome.!! Check it out……

So cool, hey? Issy, hun, I can’t thank you enough for your help. Thanks also to CC and JJ for helping me chose and make decisions about it along the way. Of course, there’s much more I need to set up and do but I’m so blessed to have some amazing people around me. Thank you to all of you – you know who you are. 😘😘
I have a new interview too. My writer-buddy Rita has a great website she’s created (which you really should check out) and she very kindly wanted to interview me for her readers. You might have seen my social media posts about it but if you didn’t, here’s the link just below……

You’ll also find it in the Media Tab of my site, once I add it there. It was a lot of fun to do and I hope you enjoy getting to know me some more.
So…some book news…..I’m working on Unveiled being released next month. Hooray! More woot woot. I’ve still got a bit more editing to do but it’s nearly done, thankfully. I swear I’ve written this entire story three times – and I’m not exaggerating.  After that will come the fun stuff like book cover, launch date…….that’s when it starts to get exciting. 😊😁🎉

Can’t wait.
Until next time, as always,

Much love,

Zelly ❤️❤️❤️

PS: drop me a line – let me know you’re out there. And feel free to ask me anything you like. And don’t forget to review, share and recommend -pimp me out, peeps!! The exposure is always good.

I can understand that you took to the bottle to celebrate. The news about your book coming next month is also very good. It is always fun to read your blog, you have a certain way with words.
